Bit

A bit is a measurement unit used in the binary system which is usually represented by 0 or 1.

Bit is usually used to store or transmit the data like the internet connection speed, Quality scale of an audio or video recording.
Classifying the computers as 32-bit machines means that its data registers are 32-bit wide(it uses 32-bits to identify each address in the memory) , whereas the larger registers makes the computer faster(uses more bits for addresses) which enables the machine to support larger programs.
